When Rita’s life partner and soul mate was diagnosed with ALS at the age of 48, her world was forever changed. A trained healthcare professional, she cared for him as the illness took its toll on his body. Grateful for her love and the family they had built together, the disease would eventually take his life, but never take away his positive spirit or joy in all life’s simple pleasures.
Grieving, exhausted, and unsure what lay ahead, Rita reached out to a member of the Lupin Planning Group Team for guidance. Despite having little prior knowledge of financial planning, she knew it was important to educate herself to secure Her and her family’s future. She now admits, “I was terrified, but every conversation got easier.”
Today she has returned to work she loves, is able to travel to visit her children and grandchildren regularly and is back enjoying all the outdoor activities that she and Maurice shared together. There are still hard days for sure, but she no longer feels like she has to do it all on her own.
